Bioactive Dairy Fraction / Gut Repair / IGF-1 Support

Bovine Colostrum

The first milk produced after birth, rich in immunoglobulins, growth factors (IGF-1, TGF-β), lactoferrin, and proline-rich peptides. Clinical evidence supports gut barrier repair, immune modulation, and athletic recovery benefits. One of the most evidence-backed natural gut repair agents.

What Is Bovine Colostrum?

Bovine colostrum is the first milk produced by cows in the 24–48 hours after calving. It is dramatically different in composition from regular milk — rich in immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM), growth factors (IGF-1, TGF-β, EGF), lactoferrin, lysozyme, and proline-rich polypeptides (PRPs).

These bioactive components evolved to rapidly develop the newborn's gut integrity and immune system — and research suggests they retain meaningful activity in adult humans, particularly for gut barrier function and immune modulation.

Clinical Evidence

Gut permeability: Multiple RCTs demonstrate that bovine colostrum reduces intestinal permeability. A landmark study by Playford et al. showed 60g/day of colostrum significantly reduced gut permeability in athletes during heavy training — a well-established cause of exercise-induced leaky gut.

Athletic recovery: Several controlled trials show colostrum supplementation improves athletic performance markers, reduces upper respiratory tract infections in athletes, and accelerates recovery from intense training. Effect sizes are moderate but consistent.

Immune function: Meta-analyses confirm colostrum reduces incidence and duration of upper respiratory infections.

Gut Repair Stack

Colostrum pairs naturally with BPC-157 and KPV for comprehensive gut barrier repair — each addressing different aspects of intestinal healing:

  • Colostrum: Growth factors drive epithelial cell proliferation and immunoglobulin coating
  • BPC-157: VEGF-driven angiogenesis and mucosal repair
  • KPV: Anti-inflammatory melanocortin signalling reducing mucosal inflammation
